Quotas are necessary to give women a greater presence in boardrooms across the sporting world, according to Moya Dodd of FIFA’s executive committee. As the first female board member of the Asian Football Confederation and Football Federation Australia, Dodd believes she only gained her position at FIFA because of quotas for female representation.
Now one of the highest placed women in the game, the former footballer and lawyer acknowledged “In an ideal world there would be no need for quotas” but went on to say more effort was needed to encourage women to take up senior positions in sports governance.
